I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of haiku and similar forms but I have to say that I do like this poem - it really does capture the feel.

Neal, I was just going to post one about fireflies, lovely to see this one, I love the sea, it is where I live in Ireland and I am just home this evening after some time in my very urban life in Germany. So good to walk down past the beach, smell the salty air, the seaweed, sound of the waves breaking on the rocks, splaying on sand, receding. There were some kids on the beach tonight, the smell of a fire burning, youth recalled of times long ago that are forever etched in the memory. Lovely haiku, perfect for the night here in Greystones, Ireland.

Thank you Fire Monkey. I'm glad you like it.
Eiken - on the firefly thing - all campers nowadays carry little LED lights and most of them have a switch position which switches on just one tiny bulb for walking and more bulbs for area or tent lighting. When people walk around the campsite in the dark with their weak lights on, that's when they look like fire flies.
I'm sure your poem is completely different and would like to see it.
