Thanks Brigid. The trip was actually into the cold hinterland where I completed school 50 years ago. Can you believe it? It was a reunion and a very pleasant time was had by all. I was the MC so I had to prepare some stuff. (We are of course in mid-winter right now and it has been a particularly cold and wet one). ;D

Wow what a picture, I was watching a review of a new documentary coming out on the big wave surfers who get towed out to ride those really big waves. It was unbelievable, a 40 year old man surfing them. Anyway your haiku is a real postcard of a day at a surf beach. Well done!

Hi Diannet. Actually my Haiku was a little misleading. The wave shown is a little way off shore like you say and they have to tow the surfers in with a surf ski. These big ones only happen this time of year and they get 6o feet high (nearly 20 metres). People come from round the world to ride them. (Not for sissies)
