Once spring frogs sang there
After many a hot day
The pond went away

Welcome buddahrocks, this is a lovely somewhat melancholic haiku I quite enjoyed. Just to let you know it is part of the rules to comment on another poem when you post (we certainly need more comments that's for sure, not many about for some reason...) It's also a matter of courtesy I think, we take the time to try and make something out of this forum, people write their poems and they like to know people are reading them and a comment to let them know how you appreciate their effort doesn't take much time.

Thanks for the info. I just stumbled across this site, so I still have to make my way around the threads and do some reading. I just wanted to get started posting, make my presence known first, but I'll be sure to put my 2ยข soon!

Hiya buddharocks, I like this rather sad little poem, but, even though it has the 5-7-5 syllable count common in haiku, I don't really think it's a true haiku. Haiku capture a "zen" moment. A present time, which doesn't encompass things that have occurred before. Also, I notice that you've given a second post in this section the same title as this piece. May I suggest that you give the second posting another title, to differentiate it for those of us who may wish to refer back to one or the other of your poems. Let me second Dianne's sentiments about commenting on the work of other people. While it's no longer and absolute rule on this forum, we encourage everyone to engage with others, and a great way to do that is by making comments. I really like your enthusiasm and I know that you have a lot to offer this forum so I look forward to seeing a lot more of you around here. Brigid
