I did this to try and capture a feeling indirectly - it isn't literally what I was feeling but rather it has a similar feeling of a heavy sky and such. I don't generally use quite this style, but it felt right for this picture.

Hi Tim, It's amazing what you can do with that mouse of yours. This looks like a watercolor. It's very moody, evocative of something dark and brooding intruding on a beautiful scene. Great job! Brigid

Thanks - I try to get effects like water colour or oils or sometimes charcoal, though that is one I have not yet been happy with my attempts. I like having texture to my art most of the time.

This image gives me the feel of an illustration for a Bobbsey Twins or Hardy Boys book. There is much more variance in texture in this image - water color sky, photo-realistic trees, a granular colored pencil ground - than your others. This is interesting to explore, but the textures are compartmentalized to different parts of the image which interrupts the flow and makes it less appealing to me than some of your other images. The most appealing part of the picture to me, though, is the contrast of the dark tones in the sky with the bright tones on the ground, as if a storm is rolling in but hasn't arrived yet.

I am always experimenting with how elements fit together to give a feel - this one does have a lot more variation in texture than many of my others. I was trying to capture a specific feel and that may be what left you feeling that it didn't flow the same as some of my other works.
