Hiya Dianne, This one made me smile, for sure. Although I don't have dogs, the cats have definitely acted as organic "bookends" for me on many a night. (They probably think of me as their organic cat-warmer). I would not capitalize each line, it detracts from the simplicity of the piece. Also, if the critters are sleeping soundly, it goes without saying that they are relaxed. How about: Sleeping soundly on the bed Two dogs, one cat Insomniac humans Dare not roll over

This is sooooo typical of pets isn't it. Like Brigid I have only a cat but each night she chooses where to sleep and then shunts me over till it works for her. By then I may be hanging off the edge of the bed but as you say I "Dare not roll over".
Thanks for a delightful insight Dianne

Funnily enough the first write didn't have relaxed in it . It was funny, I'm looking after a friends pooch while she's on holidays and the three of them are getting on wonderfully but three on the bed... it was hilarious...though Panda was still throwing daggers at the new intruder.

Strange bedfellows indeed, with the daggers and all!

sad to say I don`t have a pet..but! this does remind me of a Canadian rock band. [Three-Dog Night]..story out of Canada some nights get so cold there you need a dog on both sides of you and a dog on top.
