in the hospital my friend takes her last breath the spring wind sighs
My dear friend, Karen, died two days ago, at the age of 44. Although I haven't been able to write a longer poem about her yet, I have a series of five haiku that I will post on consecutive days in her memory.

I am so sorry, that is sad, but the poem is a good tribute.

I find it very difficult to write at such emotional times...again sorry for your loss. I hope your poetry gets you through your pain.

Thanks Tim and Dianne, for your comments. Poetry does help me tremendously. When feelings build up inside, I find myself figuratively choking until I can express those feelings through poetry. Many times, writing my thoughts down has helped me to not only understand what I'm feeling, but to get over whatever it is I'm dealing with. I really appreciate your support. Brigid

I do the same thing both in writing poems and in painting pictures. I also have songs I listen too when I feel are stuffed with emotions that need to come out. Some songs I only listen to when I'm feeling really own because the express my feelings so well.

Brigid, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend's family too at this sad time. This is a beautiful haiku in her memory. The spring wind sighs is a wonderful last line, the struggle over, a sense of relief and deep sadness. My condolences.
