Belligerently the sun, still hiding neglects to do its job again and in the dim and damp abiding I listen to the hours and then resigned no word will be arriving the day once more comes to an end
In life it seems we pay our way and yet we still must pay out more though we might try to take a stand the bills keep coming to the door like an hour glass that's leaking sand each day is less than was before
And shadows of what once had been abandoned everywhere around remind us of the hopes we've seen which time has beaten to the ground but though we ask what it might mean we wait the day the answer's found

Tim, A fine poem, one to think about and like your part of the world, the sun is not doing its job here either, still dim and damp abiding. I too listen to the hours and find days ending with little achieved. Bills still fall on the mat, they seem to be getting higher here too with less money coming in. I like the idea of the hourglass to make this point. I feel there is a lot of sadness in this poem yet the last line, waiting to find the answer is hopeful and in some ways, we plod along life at this time of year, waiting for a little bit of sunshine. I do anyhow and cannot bear the wet cold of this time of year. Hibernating and surrounding myself with sunny images until the weather warms up.

I actually didn't know where this poem was going when it started - I woke up with the first two lines in my head and so I wrote them down and then came back hours later to see where the words would lead me - and this was the result. Sometimes I start with an idea that I want to express and sometimes I only have a handful of words and they seem to write themselves. I'm glad you like it. I hate being away from here for any length of time and so whatever else I am doing, I try to find something to write or some comment top offer to others.

This have a fine flow, and rhythm, and I the rhyming scheme was well done too. I know how you feel things just go around and around no end in sight...and yeah how do you make a stand anymore sometimes the fight seems too much. Nice poem Firemonkey!
