Somewhat inspired by SweetSilverBird's A Quality of Crows.
An army of ants moving as one in rank and file.
A glaring of cats, affection always second to style.
A school of dolphins, second smartest animals on Earth.
A cackle of hyenas, laughing and screeching from birth.
A pride of lions, heads held high, surveying their land.
A parliament of rooks, judging us all from their towers grand.
An array of hedgehogs, spread sadly as they are across the roads.
A pandemonium of parrots, nattering on in nonsense prose.
A scourge of mosquitos A murder of crows
And what of us? A 'what?' of men?
A deceit, an attrition? A pollution, a torment?
A plague, like insects? An unkindness, like ravens?
A torture, a cancer, a misfortune, a craven?
What should we call ourselves, when we're en masse? Or should we just leave, and give the world back?

Hi D&W just stopped by today and read this most excellent poem. I just love how it all adds up to us...every little observation... really well done!!
Unfortunately though I believe we will give the world back when we've pretty much ruined it for all.
Great poem!

Thanks, diannet.
Glad you liked it and that you 'got' it. I wonder, which title do you prefer—or do you have a different suggestion, perhaps?

Hi Karl,
It's great to see you back with this delectable dissertation. How about a "passing parade of people" or a "passel of poets"? Or do I wax way too alliterative?
I have always loved the way your mind works, and, this latest example is no exception.
Great work.

Nicely written - I love the play with words. I think that what we call things often tells us a lot about us. As for what humans should be - I think it depends - often it would be good to call us a Disaster of Humans, though sometimes we could even be a Kindness ... all a question of if it's on our best day or or worst.
