The house is quiet now Though you rarely made a sound. The rooms are empty now, Though rarely could you be found. Yet little signs remain that you were here, That you lived beside us for thirteen years - Now empty bowls and your well-loved brush - Emotions come with such a rush. A week has gone since you passed away, Tears are shed for you every day For you lie now, Holly-puss 'neath your old apple tree Near your brother Robin, we thought, you see. Our two little friends, now together once more. The thought brings some comfort though our hearts are sore. We shall one day be happy remembering the years When you played with and loved us,but just now the tears Just fall unabated as we mourn your loss - Our dear little friend, our sweet Holly-puss. hms 21.2.2014

Hello Hazel, Long time, no see. I'm so sorry for the loss of your cat, Holly. She looks so sweet. It's wonderful that you commemorated her in this way. As a cat-lover, I can relate deeply to your words. I hope you'll come back and visit us and perhaps post some more of your work. We're trying to get the forum up and running again, after a year or so in the doldrums, so we can use all the help we can get. I'm glad you're back. Brigid

That would be great, Hazel. Perhaps you'd like to check out our haiku section. There are quite a few cat poems there.

Very well express Hazel - if Holly could comment on the poem I'm sure it would be to say it was a lovely remembrance.
