FOR THE LOVE OF WINTER
It is a marriage made in heaven. The snow falls like confetti And land and sky come together as one. Nothing is left untouched As their surfaces entwine In blissful solitude. The romantic in me Tells me they should be left alone. Lost in their moment together. For in my heart I know Theirs is a love That cannot last forever.

Hello John,
This is a very tender, serene look at winter, while most people are cussing it out right now. Very nicely done. CR

An intimate and sensual look at the connection of land and sky during winter's slumber. Even the image is a bit erotic. A great change of perspective for some of us who are tired of shoveling.

I think this is my favorite type of love poem. The ones that end with a bit of dismay or loss, especially the way you lay it in the last three lines:
For in my heart I know Theirs is a love That cannot last forever.
It's a very powerful ending to the poem. Great job!

Hi John,
I really like this! The earth and the sky really do come together as one when the snow is falling, and it is unique. I never really thought of it that way before. And the next time I have to shovel, which I hear will likely come again tomorrow, I will feel guilty that I am breaking up their temporary union. This is really good.
I have a winter poem which I will post in the next few days. It is a good subject.
Dan

Nicely written and on a topic for which so many poems have been written you have managed a different vantage point than most. Well done

The traditional romance of the beginning of the poem and the convincing winter setting work very well - and the slight shift at the very end turns it in a melancholy direction. Well done
