Because there has been confusion lately about our forum rules and/or the folkways of the forum, here’s an updated version of the rules. Yes, there are now more rules to follow, but, I hope this will clarify the way our forum operates.
Be considerate of your fellow poets. This means:
1. This forum is intended as an interactive community of poets. Therefore, for each poem that you post, comment on the work of at least one other poet, prior to posting your own. This will ensure that everyone’s work gets some attention.
2. Post no more than one poem per day in any one category so that everyone’s work will have a chance to be seen and reviewed.
3. All work submitted here is subject to critique. While it’s fine to just tell another poet you like their work, constructive criticism is (or should be) welcome. It can be very helpful to point out what worked and didn’t work for you in a poem, and make suggestions about what might work better.
4. Limit the scope of your response to another’s post to comment on, or critique of, the poem.
5. If you are inspired to write more than that in response to a poem, please post your additional comments, on whatever topic you choose, in the Poet’s Community Center where others may be invited to join in the conversation. This is to ensure that the focus of a poet’s thread stays on the poem posted, without distractions.
6. Should you happened to be inspired to write a poem in response to another’s poem, please post that poem in a thread that you initiate. You may then post a link to the original thread in your own, if you wish.
7. Whether commenting, critiquing or reacting to a comment or critique, avoid harsh language and sarcasm.
8. Avoid profanity, explicit sexual language, graphic cruelty, violence or hate language.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me and I’ll get back to you soon.
