Is the yellow glow around the flower natural? It really enhances the pic. It doesn't look fake, but it's just so unusual. Neat!

Thanks to all of you for your comments. Molly, the effect is called gray scale. You can pick a focal point and everything outside of that circle (you get to pick the size) turns gray. Brigid

Hi Brigid & everybody,
I really like this picture. It's so cute that this one branch and flower decided to "run away from home". It's a cool metaphor for all of us when we decide to leave the familiar and/or the past behind.
I really like your haiku, too, Brigid.
Let me think a moment, and add my two cents (or seventeen syllables or less) worth...
old wood fence can't keep the curious hibiscus from the other side
