Greetings All! This one isn't exactly a challenge. It's more of an invitation for you to look back through your work on the forum from 2011 and pick out your very own personal favorite. Then post a link to it here so that everyone can check it out. We all miss seeing a great poem every now and then, so this will give everyone a chance to see what they missed or to re-read an "Oldie but Goodie" Hoping that 2012 holds great things in store... Brigid

What a good idea Brigid. After pouring through my existing 43 poems, I know for certain my favorite is Nightwatch. I wrote it at the height of my illness before any medication was offered, and I was in almost constant delirium from pain. Pain does odd things to a person. The result was poetry very unlike my usual stuff. Hope you Enjoy this blast from the past. Here's the Link: poetry-here-and-now.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=free&action=display&thread=343

Great choice, Deb. Thanks for responding so quickly. Your favorite has now been resurrected!

OK, here goes my selection for my own favorite work this year. The choice may surprise some of you because it's not normally the sort of thing I write. And, I guess that's the reason I like it so much. One of the things that I value highly about this forum is our ability to learn from and influence one another. "thisismyengland" (also known as "time" brought a different perspective to this forum, and, although he's no longer an active participant, I feel I owe him a debt of gratitude for making me stretch my boundaries! poetry-here-and-now.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=free&action=display&thread=650

One of my favourites was this one www.poetry-here-and-now.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=free&action=display&thread=853 The other I must have deleted when having a bit of afizz! it was this one! Love Cats I listen to old rock songs with the rain lashing windows I remember a young girl with care abandoned running across a rain soaked Toorak Road on a track of shimmering lights leading her to the bar where the laughter of work left behind filters down through the rush of cars we were wonderfully, wonderfully, pretty love cats on the prowl with a night of opportunities waiting and the future was a whisper waiting for a soundtrack

Hi Dianne, "The Ram" was a good choice. As I said when I resurrected it, I find high irony in the fact that Deb just posted "Shearling" today, which prominently featured a sheepskin! www.poetry-here-and-now.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rhymers&action=display&thread=1089&page=1I remember Love Cats! It seems to me the original version had something about "fringes", but I could be thinking of another poem. Hmm...it sounds like there might be a little bit of Love Cat left over, playfully removing things (like poems) just because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Very cat-like!

Choosing a poem is not easy, there were a couple I thought about but looking at when I had posted them, turns out only 1 was posted in 2011, so that made it simple ;D - this one really held a lot of emotion and meaning for me when I wrote it, and it still effects me the same when I read it: How Do I Miss Thee.

I am afraid that at the moment I am heading off to hopefully sleep so I can't take the time that I should to read and comment and all, but I wanted to say that so far it looks like a nice selection of poems here. I think it will take me a lifetime to catch up on everything on the whole forum but I shall do my best to at least start putting a dent in it. Hope everyone is having a good start to the year and if not, remember that on Jan 23 [this year] the Chinese New Year starts - so there is a second chance to start out on the right foot if the first try went sideways ;D - we shall be entering the the year of the Dragon then ... it is supposed to be a time for mystical things, higher thoughts and spirituality - also a year of good fortune and bold innovations. That doesn't sound too bad.

Hiya Douglass, No matter that this is your only poem on the forum. Quality counts more than quantity and I think this one's a gem.
