Who will tell my story when I am long gone, of how I was a family man, husband, father and son, and after many years of writing poems and more, have I left enough or will the future choose to ignore, my thoughts on the dangers and follies of mankind, who use their anger rather more than their mind?
I'm not a noted man as I sit here and write, though many have commented that perhaps I might, be on the right track as I put forward my views, but still almost daily there comes sombre news, as violence in one form or another once more deprives, so many families of those they need in their lives...
There is no perfect system and none will ever be found, but it's better to plant seeds than bury men in the ground, for who provides for their kin folk after they die, it only spreads poverty amongst those who must cry, so let's ask once again is there no better way to spend, billions of dollars than to bring hunger and pain to an end...

Amen, Dave! Don't worry, you've left your mark here on the forum. Too bad there just aren't more people around to read what you post. Keep on scattering those seeds of love and hope and know that your voice is always heard.

You are indeed a sage and a man of vision Sir. I think sometimes we feel wanting because we cannot shift the world en bloc with our utterings. The world is a big place though and the collected thoughts of 10 000 sages are what make mankind go forward. Keep scribing Rhumour. Your words carry weight.

Thanks Brigid Sadly most poetry forums have quite small readership, even those that boast huge numbers of members. But I scatter poems far and wide, so some do get noticed thankfully. Best wishes, Dave

Thank you kindly Snowtracks - I have accepted over the years that few people really stop and think about the bigger picture - in particular how our children and theirs will survive in a deteriorating world. Sadly the here and now is all that society really cares for... Best wishes, Dave

Certainly wise words..yet no one seems to listen. I heard on the radio nearly 8 billion people are hungry in the world... it's terrible when you think of all that food we hoard and that is left on supermarket shelves...so much more than we'll ever need. I agree with Neal it's the collective voice that can make a difference so every one who speaks out is an important part of that... keep going strong Dave...

Thanks Diannet - I can't be sure on the current figures for hunger, but perhaps it is a shade less than that as the total population is about 7 billion... But whatever the numbers, it is known that we discard more uneaten food than would be needed to save most of those who die from hunger related issues. Sadly the logistics are not in place to balance the situation, but those charities that work to enable better food production and water sourcing are making a difference - and I'm encouraged by initiatives such as the option to add a small donation to check outs when using Ebay/PayPal - an odd pound or dollar from many people that might not have thought of it otherwise will help a lot of people. Best wishes, Dave.
