Calling all poets. After about a year of languishing in the doldrums, we are ready to fire up our forum and are looking for poets, whether novices or old pros, to join us. We tend to be a friendly place, so why not take a few minutes to poke around in the various nooks and crannies you'll find here and see if there's one where you might just be tempted to post one of your own gems. In spite of the title of this post, all poets, whether rhymers or not, are very welcome here. Brigid

I shall do my best to dust off my poet cap and see what I can do.

Tim and Deb, Since you two have been with me on the forum from the beginning, it somehow seems fitting that you should be with me now during this exciting time of resurrection. I think this past year has been difficult (and uninspiring) for a lot of us, but "onward and upward" is going to be our new theme. One thing you (and anyone) can do, even if you're not inspired to write, is to comment on the work of others (whether newly posted or not). With the addition of the new "Like" button on each post, it's very easy to lend your support without having to do more than click on an icon. (Hmm...click-on-an-icon...I like the sound of that.) One thing I've discovered, in reading through the recent posts, as well as in reading back over some of the oldies, is that we've really got a lot of good stuff (and good people) here. And that, in itself, inspires me to make this forum work for all of us.

I'm all for resurrection, just as long as we don't end up with any zombies wandering about ... half resurrected poems are so messy to deal with but I'll do my best to help out as I can

Hi Tim,
It's not so much the resurrected poems that I'm talking about, but rather the resurrection of the forum itself. And, as a forum, we have much better things to do than going around snacking on people's brains. (Or, if we do, it's only in the nicest of ways...)

But I thought poets were always picking each others brains for inspirations Of late I have been working on music more than poetry, though I do have a project I'm working on where I'm writing a series of songs as a kind of concept album and, since I can't sing very well, I'm trying to do it as poetry put to music - but so far it's going slowly. All the music is written and recorded and I know what each song is about of course, but the lyrics are coming slowly and then actually reading the poetry in time with the music is a challenge too but if I can get it all to work, I'll post the lyrics here and I'll be making a youtube thing of the whole project - not animated this time, just the music with the poetry and likely I'll have the lyrics written on screen. The whole thing is about 45 minutes long with 16 songs. The other creative thing I have been working on is a novel. No art or poetry [well, except that one I posted a short time ago] for some time. Other than that - life has been taking up most of my time. A lot has been happening in this last year.

Wow, Tim, you have been busy. I can't wait to see what you come up with. The music section of the forum has been safely stashed away, but I will re-open it when you get ready to post. Do you plan on sharing your happy "secret" with the members of the forum any time soon?

Hi everybody,
I, for one, am very happy to be on this forum. So far, everybody seems very friendly and there's a very nice variety of material to peruse and enjoy.
Hope to see more people sign up!

Brigit: Well, I just did post the "secret" on another thread but a quick repeat here: SweetSilverBird and I are getting married! Cory: yes, all ion all we have tended to be a close group of people ... I guess those who don't fit with the feel of the board tend to not stay around and those who do tend to become friends. It's always nice to have more people.
