A fuzzy little monkey, was sitting in his tree, watching as the world passed by, he sighed and said, 'Ah me, This is such a big old tree, For a monkey such as I.' 'That's true', said his Silverbird neighbour, As past him she did fly.
Each day for many years, They'd pass the time of day. Then each to their own little homesteads They'd go about their way. But they liked each other's company, and nearer and closer they grew. And one day said the little monkey, 'Sweet Silverbird, hear me do
Come share my seat upon my tree and let us watch the world go by. For now's the time, I do believe to be together, you and I.' So as the joyful news breaks out and congratulations ring, they'll join their lives in married bliss for all the future brings.

Hi Hazel,
I don't know how I managed to miss this. What a fun tribute to Tim and Deb. I join with you in wishing them all the best!

Hi Hazel,
Nice to meet you! Thank you for sharing the "Monkeybird" poem. Do you have a title for it? I like the use of the tree in the poem, since both monkeys and birds seem to spend time in trees. Congratulations to the silver bird and to the monkey! I'd raise a glass to them, but at the moment it'll have to be a coffee cup!
As an aside, when my wife and I got married, I wrote a poem for her/us, but deliberately did not show it to her. A friend read it in the ceremony. My wife had a tear or two, even though she is too practical to like poetry very much. Lots of people thought it was a nice touch, and much more personal than the standard readings.

Deb, so glad you liked it. Brigid and Daniel, thank you for your kind comments - I'd missed them not having been on for a couple of weeks having been tied up with costume making and performing with our local Amateur Operatic Society. But I shall be back now.
As for a title I really just dedicated it to my two happy friends as it was specially for them.

"Dedicated to My Two Happy Friends" would be fine as a title I think After all, there are a lot of poems which use the first line as a title, and then you get titles like " She was waiting for her mother at the station in Torino and you know I love you baby but it's getting too heavy to laugh" which is almost longer than the song that it's a title for

Hi Hazel, This is a very sweet gesture and a very cute poem.
I'm sort of surprised that others haven't joined in the fun and celebration by offering their own tributes. I, for one, plan to think on it.
