First, if you don’t know what an Etheree is, you’ll have to check out Form Focus: poetry-here-and-now.proboards.com/thread/1846/session-12-etheree?page=1&scrollTo=10870Now that you know what one is, what I’d like for you to do is help me write a Reverse or Inverted Etheree. Line 1 has 10 syllables, Line 2 has 9 Line 3 has 8 Line 4 has 7 Line 5 has 6 Line 6 has 5 Line 7 has 4 Line 8 has 3 Line 9 has 2 Line 10 has 1 Let’s take it in order. I’ll do Line 1, the rest are up for grabs. When you write a line, try to end it in a way that may be easily continued by the next person, especially if you are the writer of Line 9. Remember the lines should NOT rhyme! This should be a lot of fun! Line 1: Long ago, upon a midnight dreary, Line 2: nine ravens knocked on nine random doors, Line 3: braving the biting cold to bring Line 4: every sort of needful thing, Line 5: to those behind the doors. Line 6: Chosen for their plight, Line 7: poets, toiling Line 8: secretly, Line 9: hopeful Line 10: souls.

Line 10: souls.
Chris, your choice for line nine made this a tough one. I'm putting us all out of our misery and ending this with "souls", unless someone else comes up with something more apt!
Thanks to those of you who participated.

Brigid, that is exactly the word I had in mind, did not want to take more than one line. Great minds think alike.

Hi Chris, I forgot to mention this before, but the person adding the ninth line to this poem is the winner of the BIG prize, which is to create a new challenge for the rest of us. I hope you're up to the challenge challenge. It shouldn't be too difficult, though, since most people seemed to be intimidated by the Etheree challenge. (Leave it to good old fearless Reilley to swoop in and save the day!) I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Brigid
