Since I don't know if Easter is meaningful for everyone, if it is not special for you then just think of this picture as a symbol of hope and re-birth - the start of a fresh start if you will. I have done sunrises [and sunsets] since I was in grade 9 - they have always been of interest to me and I have done them in every media I have worked in, the first, if I remember correctly, was in oil pastels and later I did one in tempera paint on fine grained wood and I have tried them in many other forms - digital included. I have made a study of the colours that you find, with a special interest in those colours people don't expect. To me, not only is there beauty in sunrises and sunsets, but there is hope and life and future to be found in both. Anyway, I hope this one will inspire a few poems - my challenge is to express the emotions of the sunrise rather than the visual image of it - write a poem about how the sunrise feels

Hi Tim, What a lovely painting. And lovely sentiments too. Here's what came to mind: dawn feels like a reassurance that our world is still turning the sun is still burning inspiring a yearning to go on Thanks for sharing this with us! Brigid

Thank you, and a nice poem - it's always harder to write feelings because they are intangable - they have no form or colour or sound that you can call on so the poet has to stretch a bit to express them and to help others feel what they feel. So although I love poems that tell stories, I feel working on ones that tell feelings is important. If you can make others feel what you feel with your words, then any story you write will be so much more powerful.

Very cool painting. This would go extremely well with one of the first poems I posted to this forum "Aurora Shines".
Awesome picture.

Thanks - so, are you going to try for the challenge and write another poem that would go with it - one about the feel of the scene? [some days I get a bit pushy - well, I like to think it's more "nudgey" ;D]
