Ok, here is something different - first, you'll notice the picture below shows 3 faces [well, one face 3 times - different expressions] Choose one but keep it secret. Now, write a poem about a garden - it must not have any people or animals in the poem, just plants, weather and such and you must not use emotion words like "happy" or "angry" or "frustrated", etc in the poem . The challenge is to write a poem that reminds you of the face you chose and then see if other people pick the right face when they read your poem - so if it's a happy face, then you have to make the garden sound like it's happy, but you must NOT say anything like "It's a happy garden" in the poem. This was a creative writing exercise I did years ago and I figure it should work well with poems and it can be both challenging AND fun. If people can tell which face goes with your poem - you have succeeded. ;D
