D&W, Super result, spoken inserted, thank you. I love yours too. This was a fun challenge, great words, very easy to work with, loved everyone's input.

Hello all! I have to agree with D&W that this has been one of the most successful challenges of all---it's even brought us a brand new member, Tashie. I really feel like everyone excelled at this one---not the norm for challenges. But thanks and congrats to all of you for doing such a good job. (Pssst, D&W, just between the two of us, you forgot "day"! If you like, I'll give you extra credit for using "azure" and "over" multiple times, or else you could slip a "day" in there somewhere.) If one of you would like to start a challenge with your own ten words, be my guest. Just start a new thread. One thing I think that made this one so successful was that I deliberately picked words that would be relatively easy to work into a coherent whole. I lot of the challenges I've seen have been a lot tougher when they include words like "screwdriver" "reindeer" "happenstance" "eternal" and "mailman". Not to say there's anything wrong with that sort of a challenge, only that it's more difficult to write anything that's even close to what we would normally write. Daphne has also mentioned wanting to start a challenge about "slugs", but I'll leave it to her to start the thread and tell you all about it. Brigid

Words spoken with tender intent revealed what happened when day was spent, when azure skies were lost to well-worn dark and night's touch drifted over the park the lovers rose together hand in hand their lives written out in drifting sand.

Yeah, sorry I've been offline, but I recently moved, and did not get internet hooked up at the new place, just one less bill to pay. Currently at the library.

OMG, you poor deprived boy! I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't crawl out of the sack and immediately check in online, without having to go through the long and tedious process of getting presentable! I hope you'll be able to get to the library often. We've got a lot of new members coming in and things are starting to get really interesting.

This was fun! And as others have said, so many different takes on the same 10 words! Thanks so much, dustandwater, for your very kind comments! And brilliant job, Reilly! I also would find it very hard not to have internet access at home, esp. since I don't willingly leave the house, but you have managed a fantastic poem from the library. Impressive! Thanks, Brigid, for the nudge on issuing a challenge--still working on it. I hope someone does do another 10 word challenge as that has been really fun!

Yes...some really great poetry came out of this challenge...I agree with D&W maybe a regular event or even have a little section to show all these poems one after another. I don't know as this really does show the diversity of the different styles. Everyone really did very well indeed. The album challenge was really good too...should have a look at that one guys

Antiquities of azure color revealed Blazing over the night sky Inside this design Well-worn phrases Tripping over each other From morning into day So happened to touch and overlap Eliminating bygone regrets While tender spoken words Rest in the lost and found !

The Shore Just as Before The path revealed itself just beyond the unlocked gate hidden in breast-high reeds bridging over a croaking pond surrounded by wild flowers and blooming trees - beauty lost to those not privileged to this private shore where each day is
marked by the ocean's wisdom, sometimes spoken in a tender voice and sometimes a roar for which I rejoice this morn when four years having come and gone, I've still happened upon seashells just like times past - coins strong, concave and paper-thin in evening sunshine shades, buried fragments painted with a touch of azure at their edges well-worn, hermit crab homes of silver or bronze on a soft pale cream, tiny curly cues in stripes on white and snail shells of slate
They fill my bag with tangible memories before my toes ever taste the cold salty water and I shiver contemplating if I'll swim to Lion's Head rock this time or decidedly wait til I return and once again things will be just as before
even back to the very first time I walked the path and marveled not just at the sparkling sea, but at my asthmatic lungs breathing with such ease and causing me ever since to dream of the seashells on this Woods Hole private beach

*I'll post this in the Free Verse forum and include a photo. Thanks for the challenge; these are my favorite kind. Sorry I've been away so long. I haven't forgot I need to offer feedback, too; I just can't do it all in one sitting.*

Hi Callisse, It's good to see you back here. This is a great response to the challenge. Yes, please do post this in the free-verse section for critique. In the Come Out and Play Section, we tend to be looking merely for responses to the challenge, without a lot of emphasis on critique. Don't forget to comment on someone else's work when posting this in "Free Verse".

How, how in god's name do i make it through the day? Walk the dog, people watch, re-shape balls of hay.. Gaze at the azure sky, the clouds that brush it blue, Close my eyes and faster than light, there i am with You. Woah, have i lost my bearings? i shall choose a new Direction, Someone i swear will sing and it's cousin A, on reflection. Tender is the kiss goodnight, let's walk those well-worn shoes, And gaze again at the azure sky and the clouds that brush it blue. Hey! complex Secrets revealed, i assume You are still with us.. Well allow me to re-iterate: i borrowed a touch n' stole a kiss. And somebody made a fuss -- Mum, as it happened, I did grow up, I've palp's hit, and plenty more songs for my lover. Followed by a blind-boy's bow, be sure to have fun, but now all my word-play's over. (Thank You) ***Italics added by Brigid***

Your Hideous Armchair
It never fails as I walk by that well-worn spot upon the floor recalls to my mind's eye how day after day after day I lost gazing 'cross the sea of azure just beyond my door. No more tender memory nothing further spoken nor is revealed what happened in any but that path I wore as I leaned over to touch your hideous armchair on the porch.
;D Just found this...what a wonderful fun thing and so many different and amazing entries. Love.

A tender spoken word, Lost among the clouds of an azure spring day revealed what happened when the well-worn touch was finally over.

Hi scimitar! Welcome to the forum! Thanks for reviving this, which was one of our most successful challenges! I like your poem but I believe you left out the word "spoken". Looks like it should be a relatively easy fix. I hope you'll take some time to learn your way around and be sure to read the forum rules at the top of the index page, to avoid any unnecessary confusion. It's awesome having a new member who jumps right in, especially into one of my favorite threads. Again, welcome! Brigid
